If you have a flat roof installed on your property, the chances are that you may not be able to notice any damages or leaks, as you would with a normal pitched roof. Your roof is one of the most important elements of your house, which is why it is vital that it is maintained well to prolong the life of the internal and external structure of your home.

1: Cracks and holes

Try to look out for cracks and holes in the roofing material as this can lead to leaks in the future.

2: Leaks

If you notice water leaks into your home, then you need to seek immediate attention as this can worsen if not looked into straight away.

3: Missing material from the roof

This is something to watch out for when the weather is particularly bad. High winds can lead to parts of the tar and rock covering being blown off, which exposes the undercoating of the roof to further damage.

4: Damp patches

If you begin to notice areas that are damaged or see any damp spots below your roof then it is a sign that you need to be looked at by a specialist

5: Check your roof in the attic

Take a look in your attic or loft space and inspect for any water leaks and damp patches, as this could suggest there could be a problem with your roof.
